PLEAD FORGIVENESS Betrayed Once Betrayed Twice edition by Aury Dobsyn Amber Bungo Romance eBooks
What a great smooth flowing story this was. There was action from the get go...not slow paced or bogged down at all.The author did an excellent job in describing the characters. They were all life-like and easy to imagine.
Gavin and Ella were two of the best matched H/h I have ever read about.
Loved this story and had decided to ignore the first few editing errors. Then they became too numerous, imo.
There was wrong tense of words used lots of times as well as wrong words used...excepted instead of accepted, irrupted in place of erupted and atlas instead of alas are a few that come to mind. Extra words added to sentences and then words would be missing.
Names were spelled differently at times...Alec/Alex, Rachael/Rachel, Isabel/Isobel and Frazer/Fraser.
Because this was such a good book and held my attention I only deducted 1 star for the not so good editing done. A very enjoyable read.

PLEAD FORGIVENESS Betrayed Once Betrayed Twice edition by Aury Dobsyn Amber Bungo Romance eBooks Reviews
I loved the book. I thought Gavin was great. Ella/Bella was a little too perfect, and people just loved her a little too much, but that does not bother me. She did have a few faults, but they were out weight by her goodness, and selflessness. I really hate reviews where people call the heroine Mary Sue and then complain they hated the book, because of it. In my option the reviewers expect the guy to be perfect, but when the girl is, then they complain about. I guess that says it all. These are fictional books and I think people get too wrapped up in them sometimes. Another reviewer complained about her being scarred. So she was going to have scars on her back for taking a whipping for a very young boy. It shows how good her heart is, and it also somewhat shows that the hero loved her for more than her beauty. Not that I think scars on the back are that big or a deal. A horribly disfigured face or something would have been a big deal. But even then it would just show how the hero could overlook it for inter beauty. I also did not think the spelling and grammar problems were that big of a deal, but others thought so. However my writing is not the best.
Now to address the reviewer who said the book had explicit sex, and the book was more about sex than an actual plot. That is completely wrong. First other than a quickie on the wedding night, there was no sex until 73% thru the book. The wedding night wasn't really anything, because he forced her to marry him, and she would not talk to him. He had to make sure the marriage was real, because the king was going to send someone to make sure the wedding was consummated, so he tricked her into a quickie. After that they do not have sex for a while event though they are married, because she feels he lied and tricked her. So that 73% is both books combine. So probably the only thing in the first book is the quickie wedding night. The second book had a couple of scenes that were a little descriptive, but not that descriptive. If people think this is descriptive they would have a heart attack if they ever read erotica. Personally I like more sex, but do not have a problem with a book where there is not that much sex, and it isn't descriptive, if the book is good. I also do not see what he did is that bad, though someone in one of the reviews thought so. That may have been in the reviews on just one book instead of the two books combined.
Anyway I loved the book despite what other people see as faults. You will have to decide for yourself. If you do not like perfect people, you hate grammar errors, you hate plot errors (which I can find in any book), or you want no sex at all, then do not read it. You can find all sorts of things in any book. I do agree with someone that I hate it when a writer stops a book in the middle of the story and then you have to purchase another book to finish. Especially if you have to wait for that book to come out. That drives me crazy. They should have to state in very big letters somewhere in plain sight that they are doing that. Since both were out when I read it I cannot complain. I can't wait to see what she does next. Maybe something with Paen and Kyla Fraser.
Sex content low/medium.
There were so many things that made this one of the cheesiest books that I've ever read. I'll admit, I'm not a huge reader of historical romance so perhaps some of my gripes are due to the time period in which the book is written (although I don't think that's the case).
First, the female lead. Ella is perfect. Ella is loved and admired by all. She charms even the most gruff of men or the most savage of beast. Her talents know no end. Her hardships are hardly that at all. She is described as resembling a young boy in body and at one point gets whipped very badly, to the point of heavy scarring, yet the Laird of a Scottish clan finds her enticing beyond all others. In fact, everyone does. The book ends with her having a baby, but of course her body is back to it's perfect form two months later and everything is just dandy. Actually, the book ends with all of the good guys coming out on top and tragedy and death coming only for the bad guys. *eye roll* This does not jive with my idea of what life was actually like for people in this time.
Second, the book starts out with a glossary of Scottish terms in case you're confused by them (warning number one). Then the prologue starts, and the Scottish dialect was laid on so thick that I thought "are you kidding me?" You could barely understand what was being said and it felt forced, like the author was trying too hard to set-up her story. *eye roll* (warning number two, should have put the book down then).
Third, the lack of editing. It was beyond horrific! Incorrect words ("are" instead of "our"), missing words, words spelled wrong. What author doesn't proofread her work? Unacceptable. At one point, a sentence contained the incorrect spelling of the word "clan"! It was "clap" instead- seriously?? And the kicker was at the end, there were highlights and comments from the author's beta readers!! How was this not taken out of the final, uploaded copy of this book??? Pure laziness.
Two other things bothered me. One, I HATED when Gavin referred to Ella as "little one." Creepy! And could the author do no better than to give Isabel/Bella the undercover name of Bella? I know, it was explained at the end why that name was chosen, but are we seriously supposed to believe that no one put two-and-two together and figured out that the mysterious Ella is actually the MacKenzie daughter and that perhaps someone lied about her death? And I don't think the book could have been filled with any more pointless dialogue. It was obvious filler so that the book reached a certain length, which is why i skimmed most of it. I'm glad this was a free read because it was a complete waste of time.
